ABOUT
A Tradition of Excellence
SPLA seeks to establish Los Angeles as a global center for musical innovation in bowed string playing while celebrating the musical and cultural diversity of our city. SPLA was founded in 2007 as the first school in America solely dedicated to creative string playing. bootstrapping everything from our summer camps year-round programs to a multitude of charitable and community engagements, partnerships with a veritable whose who of musical nonprofits in our city, and events we offered the community Including the founding of the Los Angeles, creative string festival. We did more to put LA on the map as a center of creative string playing than most of the high-flouting, extremely well-endowed institutions many times our size.
